Dr. Eldric Blanding
Rutherford Road Church of Christ
Minister, Visionary, Humanitarian, & Friend
Dr. Blanding dedicated his life endeavoring to improve the quality
of life for all mankind by living, teaching, and preaching the eternal
teachings of Jesus Christ. That life and calling were not without
uphill battles and lifetime struggles. Yet through it all, he never
forgot about Jesus.
In his 49 years of life, God blessed Dr. Blanding to make a dynamic impact
upon the Greenville community dedicating his life to service and dedication for all
nationalities, ethnicities, and genders, utilizing the message of the Master as his
foundational centerpiece. He was an activist, philanthropist, humanitarian, and minister
having served in the capacity of Chaplin for the Watkins, Garrett, and Woods Mortuary.
Dr. Blanding also served as a Chaplin for the Greenville Hospital System and as a board
member for the American Red Cross Board of Directors.
Dr. Blanding's greatest accomplishment was pioneering and orchestrating the
establishment of a congregation of the Churches of Christ in the North Greenville area,
affectionately called the Rutherford Road Church of Christ. Under his vision and tutelage,
the congregation which begin on November 6, 2005 with 35 members, now boasts more
than 100 members on the roll in the span of over 1 year's time. Upon his call to the
ministry, Dr. Blanding was instrumental in the restoration of 18 souls and 22 baptisms
from November 2005 until his untimely death on May 25, 2006.
On behalf of the members of the Rutherford Road Church of Christ, and as the Ministering
Evangelist of this faithful body of believers, I pledge our eternal love and support for our
friend, our visionary, and my colleague in the Gospel. Our charge is to carry on his
dream, his vision, and his mission to enlighten the world about the message of our Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dr. Blanding, we will forever miss you and your kindred spirit,
but always know you will never be far from our hearts, our minds, and most importantly,
our soul.
